Applied online 01/30 and requested expedited. At the time, this was listed as 3-5 weeks. Got email confirmation shortly thereafter and about 6hrs later e-mail update stating in progress. Unfortunately, it went downhill from that point. Today is the 5 week mark and still in progress. Travel is scheduled for this Friday.
14 days before planned travel I called national passport center to set up an in person application. Took forever to get through. Finally told that travel had to be less than 14 days. So called back the next day. After 2.5 hrs on hold, I was told I could not make an in person application unless travel was in the next 5 days! So a complete waste of my time. I called again today (5 days before planned travel) and after a 70 mins hold, I was finally told that there are no in person slots at any local passport agencies. Only options were in Texas or Puerto Rico (I live in Washington DC). This is a complete disaster and unless the passport arrives in the next two days, I will have to cancel my international travel planned for this Friday. Calling the National Passport Center is a complete waste of time !
Please note that the date received is the date I submitted this review. I still don’t have the new passport and today is 5 weeks since expedited online renewal.
