I renewed my adult passport online January 2, 61 days ago and it has not changed from in-process since January 4. My travel is April 13, so based on the average wait times shared on the State Department site, I didn’t think it was necessary to expedite. I just messaged my congressional representative so we will see if that helps move things along.

I mailed off my expedited application on 1/30 via priority mail. They scanned it into their system on 2/6 and it just sat there until I contacted my local congressman to help expedite it because I had a trip planned to Cabo to drive our things down to our new home a little sooner than expected. Contacted them on Monday 2/27 and conveniently enough had it in my hand Monday 3/6. Thankfully it came in time because we moved out of our house 3/7.
I had a valid passport with 5 more years, just needed to have my name changed since I got married. What a pain. The people aren’t exactly helpful either if you call yourself. Tip: allow yourself as much time as possible!
