Let just say I should have applied for a passport renewal in 2022…

I went to the post office for a scheduled passport appointment on 02/24. I originally applied for normal processing and shipping.

03/02 – My paperwork was received by the agency and was in process for a month and a half.
04/12 – Since my trip was the first week in May, I knew it would not get here in time if I just waited. And I did not want to go to the nearest Passport Center 2 weeks out and try to get it expedited. So I applied for expedited processing and 1-2 day shipping and contacted my state senator to see if he could help.
04/17 – I’m 99% sure contacting the senator helped, as 5 days later the status changed from ‘in process’ to ‘shipped’ and I had not been charged for the expedited processing yet.
04/20 – Received passport via USPS.

Next time I will apply at least 6 months in advance, and preferably in the fall.

I needed passport for my newborn born end of March 2023. I live in Pennsylvania’s 7th Congressional District and contacted my Congresswoman’s office to help get it expedited as travel date was mid May. I also called PA Vital records office to get Birth Certificate expedited. Submitted in person application at local post office 4-11 with expedited fee and expedited shipping. Received on 4-19. I was very stressed reading the reports on this website so I am glad I got help from local Congresswoman.
