Passport Arrival Estimator
When Will My Passport Arrive?
Enter your application details to compare Passport Waiting Time’s current real-world applicant data with official U.S. Department of State processing guidance.
Passport Waiting Time is independent. These estimates are informational. Actual applications vary, and official State Department guidance and PWT waiting times measure different things.
Estimate My Passport Arrival
Choose your application date, type, and service level. The community estimate uses the current published PWT figure for that product. Official guidance is shown separately as a processing window only.
How This Passport Arrival Estimate Works
The PWT estimate uses the current published waiting time for the selected application type and service level. Those figures come from applicant-submitted timelines and count calendar days from the application date to the date the passport was received.
Official guidance uses the current U.S. Department of State processing windows — 4–6 weeks for Routine and 2–3 weeks for Expedited. That window is processing only. Mailing is excluded.
Individual applications may need extra documentation or take longer. This tool does not predict a guaranteed delivery date.
How Long Does It Take to Get a U.S. Passport?
How long a U.S. passport takes depends on the application type and whether you chose Routine or Expedited service. Official processing estimates and crowd-sourced application-to-receipt times answer different questions.
Compare today’s published figures on current U.S. passport processing times.
How Is the PWT Passport Arrival Estimate Calculated?
The estimator adds the current published PWT calendar-day figure to your application date and labels that date as “around.” It does not invent a confidence interval or replace the published waiting-times page.
If there is not enough current PWT data for the selected product, the community estimate is withheld and official processing guidance is still shown.
Why Is My Passport Taking Longer Than the Estimate?
Passing a published average does not mean your application is delayed. Cases can take longer because of individual review, requests for additional information, demand, or mailing.
This tool cannot diagnose a specific file. Use the official status tool for the Department of State’s update on your application.
Routine vs Expedited Passport Processing
Official Routine processing is currently listed as 4–6 weeks. Expedited processing is 2–3 weeks. Neither window includes mailing time.
Passport Waiting Time publishes Routine and Expedited as separate products so the community estimate follows the service level you selected.
Check Your Passport Application Status
Application status is an official U.S. Department of State service. Passport Waiting Time cannot look up a government file.

Frequently Asked Questions
This tool compares Passport Waiting Time’s current published applicant figure with official U.S. Department of State processing guidance. The PWT figure is an average of completed application-to-receipt timelines, not a promise that your passport will arrive on a specific day.
The PWT estimate uses the current published waiting time for your application type and service level. Individual applications vary. Extra review, additional documents, demand, and mailing can make a case faster or slower than the average.
Official Department of State processing times cover agency review only and do not include mailing. Passport Waiting Time measures the date you applied through the date you report receiving the passport, so mailing can be part of that journey.
Passing the current PWT average does not necessarily indicate a problem. Cases can take longer because of individual review, requests for more information, seasonal demand, or mailing. Check your official application status for the Department of State’s update on your file.
The Department of State currently lists expedited processing as 2–3 weeks, not including mailing time. Passport Waiting Time also publishes a separate crowd-sourced figure for expedited applications when enough recent timelines are available.
Use the official U.S. Department of State passport status tool. Passport Waiting Time cannot look up or update a government application.
