Called my congressman’s local office on 5/30/23. Online check showed passport approved 5/31/23. Received 6/5/23 (that is what expedited service priority mail means mid-2023…it ain’t Amazon Prime baby).

I’d recommend you call your congressman’s office a few weeks before travel. I had to print, sign, scan and return a release form…that’s it. If it is more convoluted for you, perhaps vote for someone else in 24.

We applied for two passport books and paid for expedited service and 1-2 day shipping. One was for my daughter (a child) who did have a previous passport that had expired. The other was for my 18-year-old son whose most recent passport had expired, so it was considered a first adult passport.

4/21 Appointment at the post office
4/25 Applications showed as received, then in process – Locator 69 (National Passport Center in NH)
4/26-6/1 Status remained “in process”
6/2 Status changed to “Shipped” – coming from Tucson, AZ
6/5 Passports arrived, one day shy of 6 weeks from when applications were logged as received by the passport center

Travel date listed on the application is 7/14.

Optional Comments:
Locator 35 – success story with senator’s office intervention
Travel date 7/21/23, 3 minors (under 16) first time passports
3/23/23 – ROUTINE Application at USPS office (17 weeks out, was still quoted at 8-11 weeks when we applied so didn’t pay for expedited processing or shipping – that was dumb, processing times changed to 10-13 weeks the next day).
3/30/23 – Status shows Received/In process
3/31/23 – Checks cashed
Somewhere in late May, all 3 still showing “in process” and the company I booked travel through was sending automated messages regarding getting all passport info into their system before 6/1/23 or the booking could be cancelled – start down Reddit rabbit hole and get very concerned.
5/30/23 – Based off super helpful Reddit content, contact Senator’s office (Hickenlooper, CO) – they replied quickly and therefore I did NOT ask for help from the other senators (Bennett) office. They had me fill out a Release of Information form and said it may take up to one and a half weeks to hear back from the Passport agency and to please check back with them on 6/12/23 if I hadn’t heard anything.
6/2/23 – Senators office informs me that they already heard back from passport agency with this “I have requested all three applications to be brought into Customer Service. We will do our best to meet the applicants travel needs.”
6/5/23 – all 3 passports are now showing as EXPEDITED on the status page
6/5/23 – all 3 passports are now showing as APPROVED on the status page
6/5/23 – all 3 passports are now showing as SHIPPED with tracking info (due 6/7/23)
Strangely enough although all 3 kids locator numbers indicated location 35 (Charleston), all 3 passports are shipping to me from Tucson, AZ?
I signed up for the email notifications for status changes and never got a single email notification just fyi.
