We applied for two passport books and paid for expedited service and 1-2 day shipping. One was for my daughter (a child) who did have a previous passport that had expired. The other was for my 18-year-old son whose most recent passport had expired, so it was considered a first adult passport.

4/21 Appointment at the post office
4/25 Applications showed as received, then in process – Locator 69 (National Passport Center in NH)
4/26-6/1 Status remained “in process”
6/2 Status changed to “Shipped” – coming from Tucson, AZ
6/5 Passports arrived, one day shy of 6 weeks from when applications were logged as received by the passport center

Travel date listed on the application is 7/14.

This was an expedited renewal for a child (so considered a first passport). Our date of travel was 6/14 as indicated on our application.
Week of 3/20/23 – Started looking for in-person application appointment as required for children’s passports, first available appointment was not until end of April.
4/28/23 – Application submitted via in-person application appointment
5/2/23 – Status indicates application received and in process
5/2/23-6/1/23 – Status remained in process.
6/1 – within 14 day travel window, called passport hotline which was essentially pointless as they could provide no information other than what the online status showed.
6/1 – contacted congressperson for assistance in getting passport in time for travel
6/5 – Status changed from in process to not available, late evening on 6/5 status changed to shipped. I took screenshot of status and shipment tracking
6/6 – Passport & documents received via UPS overnight delivery

We knew that timing would be tight given our travel date. I never received any email notifications, despite signing up for them. Highly recommend reaching out to your representative in congress if you are within the 14 day travel window. The National Passport number was zero help and a call to our congressperson made all the difference.

This was a regular/non-expedited passport renewal for a minor under 16. The timeline was as follows:
3/14/2023 – Application submitted at a local office. We signed up for email updates right away, but no updates were received until 6/3/2023.
3/21/2023 – Check was cashed and status changed to IN PROCESS in the online portal.
6/3/2023, 8pm – We finally received an email update saying the application was in PROCESS.
6/5/2023, 12pm – Received an email with the status updated to APPROVED.
6/5/2023, 6pm – Received another email with the status changed to SHIPPED; Priority Mail tracking number was included .
6/5/2023, 8pm – Confusingly, we got another email update with the status changed back to APPROVED.
6/8/2023 – Passport received.
When we applied for the passport, we were told it would take between 8-11 weeks. It took 11 weeks exactly, plus a couple days for shipping. We are in CA and the passport was shipped from AZ. The date the passport was issued was 6/3, so the same day we got the first email notification that the passport was IN PROCESS. Our travel date is 7/3.
