It was an absolute NIGHTMARE to get my passport. I called hundreds of times and was on hold for a total of 10 hours and they still never helped me! My travel date was June 4th and I had to cancel my trip and lose hundreds of dollars in deposits.

I signed up with the State Department for the notification of passport status change, but I never received any notifications. The passport just showed up in the mail.

Day of travel 6/27… received passports at noon 6/26, less than 24 hours before our trip.
4/17 Submitted applications in person. Paid for expedited service at time of application but not expedited shipping
4/21 Applications received and shows “in process”
14 days out from day of travel and still showing as in process so we contact our US representative. We didn’t hear anything for 24 hrs so we called our Rep directly the next day and spoke to our caseworker. They informed us that New Orleans (the agency our applications went to) is very backed up but they initiated a congressional inquiry on our behalf. As of last week New Orleans was only processing congressional inquiries.
7 days out and nothing has changed. After speaking to our caseworker she says that they’re only processing ppl within 3 days of travel. We then started calling the New Orleans office directly every morning at 759 to see if we’d have our passports in time. They wouldn’t give us an exact date of when we’d have them but they’re let us know that they were pulled and then later in line to print. The national passport number generally proved to be useless except for paying for expedited shipping.
6/23 Fri 2:00pm applications were approved and showed UPS 1-2 air.
6/26 Mon 12:00 received passports
6/27 7:30am left for airport
Total time 10 weeks. Overall the process was extremely stressful. We wouldn’t have gotten our passports if it wasn’t for our caseworker at our representative’s office.
